About Yxes

My name is Yxes Delacroix. (pronounced X S, the Y is silent) I am a “character” in a virtual world called Second Life. I arrived in Second Life (SL, for short) on May 3, 2006, and have spent alot of time exploring and learning lots of fun stuff in SL.
When I arrived in SL, it was to find podcasters, and learn how to do a podcast. I had just been listening to a few of my favorite podcasts, and two of them had mentioned going into Second Life to meet others that did this “audio blog” or Internet radio broadcasting. If Leo Laporte and Dawn & Drew thought this was cool, it definitely had to be checked out!
Shortly after arriving to SL, and finding where all the “cool kids” were hanging out, I met Banana Stein, who became my first podcasting partner. Together we created a podcast all about Second Life and the adventures our two avatars had while exploring and learning about this strange new land. “The Goddess and Banana, A SL Audio Affair” became a popular and fun show that many listened to both in and out of Second Life. The GBAffair, as it came to be known, ran for about a year, with 111 shows recorded and produced.
After the GBAffair “podfaded”, I was asked to become a co-host for a nearly podfaded show called thePodmafia Podcast. This was another SL-related podcast, hosted by two chaps from England, and eight episodes “in the can”. Stuart Warf and Gomem Desoto were (and still are) probably two of the wackiest SL’ers I have known in some time, and they were thrilled to have me join the Podmafia Podcast to try to revive this struggling show.
At this writing, we have recorded for over a year together, and gaining more listeners and popularity every week. This is a weekly podcast, with a main topic coverage of Second Life and a few spatterings of news in the technology arena or social media news. It is a part of the SL podcast network, created by Stuart Warf, included with many other popular, fun and informative SL podcasts.
On October 1, 2008, I finally produced and released my very own podcast, Fantasy & Folktales, a weekly show of readings of classic folktales & a travel log of places in Second Life that might just show you the fantasy side of a virtual world filled with wonder, magic, and unlimited possibilities!
Along with podcasting in and about SL, I have several other activities and jobs that keep me very busy, and practically living in SL 10-15 hrs each day. I do play in SL, too, in an effort to stay balanced with my viewpoint that it is not just a game, but a jumping off point to 3D social and business media networking. Virtual worlds are popping up all over the Internet now, and will continue to do so as the Internet evolves from the “Information Highway” to the “Networking Media” of our future.
I am a Consulting Producer for SLCN.tvStudios in Second Life, and work on many of the shows they broadcast in SL over a Second Life “cable TV station”. I also host and produce the “ShoppingSL” show & channel, a showcase of 5-10 minute infomercials from merchants in Second Life. You can see them on iTunes and on SLCN.TV. Just look for the ShoppingSL linkunder their Podcasts page. If you’d like more info on doing your own informercial, email me!
I am the owner & curator of the Yxes Gallery in SL, on the BlaksleeWorld island, on the top of Mt. Yxes. Go to this landmark in Second Life to find the gallery: http://slurl.com/secondlife/BlaksleeWorld/45/21/86 It’s a small gallery showcasing some of my Real Life (RL) landscaping photography, as well as many SL photos taken while “in world”.
I am also the owner of The Goddess Shoppe, your one-stop for all your Wiccan needs. I now have three locations in Second Life of The Goddess Shoppe. You can find it on the SpiritWood sim at http://slurl.com/secondlife/SpiritWood/149/189/42, a second location at Avilion Cove, and a third at the Covenstead Mall. Check my picks and classifieds in my profile for teleport links.
If you are not in Second Life already, you can go to the website of Second Life, and sign up for a free membership. Go check it out here !
