Deva Aurora
Just about anyone who has a pet, would agree that they are family. They love us without expectations or demands, and they depend on us for “every little thing”. They make us laugh, and give us all sorts of moments of fun with their antics.
This is Deva Aurora: Our sweet little kitty, 13 yrs old, big and fluffy, and the most darling kitty ever!
She came to us when she was just a little baby kitty, hand-picked from the litter by my daughter. This sweet lil gal was the favored critter of the household. She spent most of her day just sunning herself out in the back yard, and occasionally chasing a lizard or a butterfly.
We dubbed her the “fur ball”, as we were convinced she was 5 pounds of kitty and 15 pounds of fur, but such a beautiful light & dark grey coloring of fur. And, like every other kitty in the world, she had a very loud purr machine, that seemed to go off in “high gear” at the slightest show of love or attention from anyone.
Yes, that was our sweet kitty, Deva Aurora, whom we called Deva for short. Today, I found her dead in our garage, laying in one of her favorite spots. I can only guess she died of “old age”, as she did seem her usual self just the evening before.
When I told my daughter that Deva had died, we cried a little and then started talking about when she came to live with us, and a few silly stories we remembered. She had gotten to see her over the weekend, and was happy to have had some “petting and cuddling” time with her. It was then I decided I would write a lil blog about our sweet kitty.
So, here it is. It only took me a few hours to write, and a bottle of “wine-arita”! I’ve lost many pets over the years, some harder losses than others, to be sure, but this is the first time I have felt compelled to write about the passing of one of our 4-legged family members. It could be simply because I now have this outlet called a blog, combined with the need to express the love only a “cat mom” (or ‘parent’) might have, but I’m thankful to have this outlet, it does help to share how special Deva was to our little family.
Thank you to all my friends that sent me ((hugs)) and expressions of sorrow for my loss. That means so very much to me, and shows me, yet again, the wonder of networking for personal connections and sharing. It certainly has made this sad event a bit easier to deal with, surrounded by family, and friends from all over the globe.
I love you, my sweet Deva Aurora. Good-bye.

Yxes, I’m so sorry to hear that. I know to most of us, our pets aren’t just animals, they’re a part of our family.
